The 2009 MAG Mutual Handy Coder for “Specialties” gives the “Specialties” medical coder and biller the most convenient reference for the coding and coverage information they will need to perform their job on a day-to-day basis. The 2009 editions are a complete revamping of the MAG Mutual HSI Physicians’ Fee and Coding Guide, Volume III series.
The main body of the book will be procedure (CPT®) code-driven and provide crosslinks to
common ICD-9 codes, coding and overage tips, CCI edits, and Medicare RVU information (and
hopefully illustrations, and lay descriptions of the CPT codes). Additional chapters will cover specialty-specific: common anatomy and terminology, evaluation and management (E&M) utilization statistics, diagnosis (ICD-9) coding and codes, modifiers, and reimbursement tips. A supplemental CD will be included that compiles useful spreadsheets and other tools that can be implemented in the practice to increase efficiency and profitability.
